Collingwood - A Blessing in Disguise

Writer's picture: Angela Louie and Allan de la PlanteAngela Louie and Allan de la Plante

We had always intended to visit friends and family in Collingwood. But an unexpected delay meant that we needed to stay longer than we planned. Fortunately for us, Allan's nephew Michael and his wife Alla (and Tonto their baby Spaniel) graciously made us their guests for an extra couple of days.

The blessing for me was that I was able to stay in one place for longer than one day. The fact that their doorstep was on the coast of the Georgian Bay made it even sweeter!

We visited Jan and Roy who had a number of horses nearby. Jan and Roy both worked on the Formula 1 circuit and Jan was one of Allan’s former photography assistants.

They had a new foal and you know that it’s always about the baby.

Nick and Matt, two of Allan’s step-sons, were also nearby at another Georgian Bay beach house.

This was one of Allan’s paintings of Dave Irwin done for Nick’s ski charity auction.

This was definitely the life!
